Ferriday falls to Jonesboro-Hodge Missed opportunities left Ferriday with an 0-1 start in District 2-2A as the Trojans fell to Jonesboro-Hodge 22-16 Friday in Jonesboro.
"We didn't finish some drives," said Ferriday coach Cleothis Cummings. "We got inside the 20-yard line a couple of times, but penalties were drive-killers. Our defense didn't show up either. We gave them too many opportunities."
Jarvis Brooks scored on a run for the Trojans' first score of the game and added the conversion run to give Ferriday an 8-6 lead at halftime.
J-H scored the next two touchdowns, going up 22-8 before Marlon Jackson scored on a run and Brooks added the conversion run to make the final 22-16.
"That was a big win for us because Ferriday has won the last three against us and it's always good to start out district with a win," said Jonesboro-Hodge coach Todd Scott. "We executed better in the second half. Our offense has not played as well recently as it did in the first part of the year. But our defense kept us in it."
Jonesboro-Hodge lost to Caldwell 2-0 before the win over Ferriday.
The Tigers now face Lakeside, which lost to Sterlington 46-6 in its district opener.
Ferriday hosts Homer, which opened its district schedule with a 46-14 win over Lake Providence last week.
Ferriday visits Lake Providence on October 19 before returning home on October 26 against Sterlington. |
