Block High scored 24 points in the opening quarter on its way to a 40-8 win over LaSalle to improve to 2-0 in District 4-1A.

The Bears are rated No. 2 in the latest Class A power ratings.

Freshman Raymond Plummer scored on a 26-yard run to open the scoring and William Cummings added a 29-yard run.

"Raymond is getting better each game," said Block coach Benny Vault. "He has great vision."

Plummer went 12 yards for the final score of the opening period. He added a 79-yard run in the third period.

Plummer finished with 178 yards on 12 carries.

Doran Bowman caught a 45-yard TD pass from Trey Vault.

"We've been working more on our passing game," Benny said. "Our defense and passing game are both doing better."

Block hosts Montgomery Friday. Montgomery lost to St. Mary's 14-6 Friday.

"We're glad to have this game at home," Vault said. "We need everyone to come out and support us in this big game."
