Conner arraignment Nov. 14
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
An arraignment date of Nov. 14 has been set in Seventh Judicial District Court in Vidalia for Justin Conner concerning a traffic accident in Vidalia on July 22.

Conner was appointed a public defender on Oct. 10.

District Attorney Brad Burget filed charges in September against Conner, who is the local NAACP President and a former justice of the peace.

Two Vidalia police officers were suspended and later fired following the incident.

The DA's office filed four bills of information charging Conner with DWI, careless operation, speeding and no seat belt.

Burget said at the time that the matter remains under investigation, and more charges may be forthcoming.

The District Attorney's office launched an investigation into the accident at the request of the Vidalia Police Department, according to Burget.

A Vidalia police report indicated that the car Conner was driving struck the foundation of a house under construction by Adam and Shannon Probst in a new subdivision on Alabama Street at approximately 1:48 a.m.

Conner was not given a breathalyzer test at the scene, and reportedly told officers he had fallen asleep.
