Monterey teams begin seasons
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Monterey's Lady Wolves basketball team is off to a 3-0 start, while the Monterey boys are 2-1 after a week of play.

Monterey's girls defeated Sicily Island 47-31 in their opener before upending Georgetown 37-30 Friday and defeating Harrisonburg on Monday.

The Monterey boys fell to Sicily Island 100-60 in their opener.

"Despite the score, I didn't feel like we played that bad, it was just Sicily Island played that well," said Monterey boys coach Eric Richard.

Monterey defeated Georgetown 68-29 Friday and Harrisonburg 71-24 on Monday.

"We played well against Georgetown," Richard said. "The boys came out and did what they needed to do. Harrisonburg is a little down, but the guys came out focused."
