Ferriday finishes with win
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Ferriday High finished the season with a bang, routing Lakeside High in Sibley 54-0.

"Our young guys came out and wanted to win this game for our seniors," said Ferriday coach Cleothis Cummings. "I am very proud of their effort. Everyone got to play and we had all our young guys in for the entire second half. We just need to build on this for the offseason and make sure all our young guys are taking care of business in the classroom."

Ferriday scored first as Zamarion Rosenthal intercepted a pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown.

Ferriday added to the lead on Lakeside's next possession as J'veion Hardaway recovered a botched Lakeside punt in the Warrior end zone.

Ferriday's offense got in the act as Shannon Morales completed a 65-yard touchdown pass to Marlon Jackson.

Jarvis Brooks ended his high school career with a short run after carrying the ball for the majority of a long drive.

Ronald Davis got into the act with a 45-yard quarterback keeper in the second half.

Davis also completed a TD pass to Jaylen Neal.

The final Ferriday score came with five seconds remaining as Rosenthal intercepted a bubble screen inside the Lakeside 10-yard line and took it in for the score.

"We told the guys to go out and get it and that's what they did," Cummings said.

Ferriday finished 2-8 overall and 1-5 in District 2-2A.
