Council approves millage resolution posted Wednesday, November 28th, 2012 @ 1:27 pm  E-mail Story |  Print Story  The Ferriday Town Council held an emergency meeting Tuesday morning to approve a resolution adopting a 12-mill property bond tax. Mayor Gene Allen said the Concordia Parish Tax Assessor's Office contacted his office and said the resolution for the 4.65 ad valorem and 9.34 public safety millages were received by the assessor's office in October, but not the property bond tax millage. The resolution was unanimously passed. "We'll get that certified and to the assessor's office today (Tuesday)," Allen told the council. "We have to have that to collect tax money." The millage covers 10 years. In other business, the town passed a resolution to accept property donations. Allen said a small parcel of land was donated on Mickey Gilley. The board went into executive session to discuss land acquisition. After the session, the board voted to give the mayor authority to put a deal together to acquire land.
