Twister reported in Catahoula on Christmas Day posted Wednesday, December 26th, 2012 @ 1:57 pm  E-mail Story |  Print Story  High winds and heavy rains were recorded in many areas on Tuesday, Christmas day, as a fast-moving cold front moved through the region. A tornado was blamed for damage to several structures as well as downed trees and power lines in the Black River community of Glade in Catahoula Parish. According to Bubba Roy of the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office, the twister touched down shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday. Roy said one mobile home was totally destroyed while several received heavy damage. He said two large doors on a building operated by Crop Production Services, 1182 Delta Gin Road, were blown off by high winds. "There were roofs torn off a couple of trailers and several trees downed," Roy said. "Power lines were also knocked down behind the Louisiana Delta Plantation main office." The twister apparently crossed Black River where a tree fell on a vehicle on Hwy. 900 at Parhams Bend. No injuries were reported. Concordia Parish Police Jury President Melvin Ferrington said a maintenance crew was sent out Christmas afternoon to remove debris in the Monterey area.
