A Ferriday man is out on bond after shooting another Ferriday man Sunday.

According to Ferriday Police Chief Richard Madison, James Chatman, 30, 408 10th Street, Ferriday, posted a $10,000 bond on Tuesday.

Madison said Chatman and Derrick Brown of Ferriday got into an argument. He said Chatman retrieved a .22 caliber rifle from his vehicle and shot Brown in his jaw. The bullet exited his neck.

Madison said Brown was released Sunday from Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria and is in good condition.

"Thank God it did not hit an artery," Madison said.

Madison said Chatman was charged with attempted second-degree murder.

"No one else was involved," Madison said.
