Vidalia High's boys held Buckeye to 12 points in the second half, rallying for a 68-49 District 3-3A win at Vidalia Friday.

The Vikings, who had four players in double figures in scoring, improved to 4-14 overall and 1-1 in district play.

Buckeye led 37-32 at halftime, but the Vikings outscored the Panthers 15-2 in the third period and 21-10 in the final quarter.

"I reminded the guys at halftime how important this game was," said Vidalia coach Robert Sanders. "We changed defenses and went to a combination man-zone because they had two guys who were killing us."

Isiah Thompson led the Vikings with 20 points, while Terrell Virgis added 14. Deion Brown added 13 and Julius Wilson 12.

Vidalia is rated No. 44 in the Class 2A power rankings.

The Lady Vikings fell to Buckeye 54-36.

Buckeye led 10-4 after one period of play.

Tierra Bell led the Lady Vikings, rated No. 41, with 20 points. Fran Duson added seven.

Vidalia plays at Avoyelles Friday.
