Vidalia garbage rates rising on March 1
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Vidalia residents and businesses will see an increase in their garbage rates beginning March 1.

Mayor Hyram Copeland said the rate hike is due to rising operational costs.

He said a decision was made recently not to privatize the service based on comments from the public who wanted to continue operations as is.

Copeland said residential rates will rise from $15.50 per month to $21.95.

Commercial rates will be as follows:

Standard: $50 monthly for one to three regular trash cans.

Four-yard dumpster: $120 per month.

Six-yard dumpster: $160 per month.

Eight-yard dumpster: $190 per month.

Copeland said pickup for residential and commercial standard customers will be twice a week, while pick up for four-yard and above commercial dumpsters will be three times a week.
