Chancellor visits Ferriday campus Newly-named Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) Chancellor Dr. Rodney Eillis has hit the ground running since being named chancellor last month.
That running has included visiting all six campuses represented over nine parishes.
Ellis was at Central Louisiana Technical Community College in Ferriday Monday.
"Education is the pathway out of poverty," Ellis said. "I hope we can accomplish as we move over the next 90 and 120 days. My goals include accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to put us on a level playing field, to have a state of the art facility in Alexandria, seek resources to help our colleges grow and create a unified culture."
Ellis told the students, administrators and guests that 47 percent of students in the United States attend community colleges and that 42 percent of students at community colleges are first-generation college students.
Ellis said CLTCC in Ferriday has a lot to offer the local community.
"Most every student here will return to work in this community," Ellis said. "This school will have more of an impact than any other school in that respect."
Ellis invited administration officials and the student body to visit with him.
"I want to know what this college has done well in the past," Ellis said. "And what you think this college will look like five or 10 years from now."For the full story, subscribe to the The Concordia Sentinel's NEW E-Edition! |
