Lady Vikings start off with win

Vidalia High's Lady Vikings opened their season with a 13-2 win over Rayville Monday in Rayville.

The contest was played in a light, but steady rain.

Senior Laura Perrilloux picked up the win for Vidalia, allowing only three hits.

"Laura did a great job under some tough conditions," said Vidalia coach Gary Paul Parnham.

Vidalia scored two runs in the first inning as Taylor Rodgers led off with a home run. Rodgers added a double in the contest.

The Lady Vikings added two runs in the second and third innings and six runs in the fourth inning.

Vidalia finished with 12 hits. Cassie Gonzales tripled, while Perrilloux, Katelin Temple, Savannah McCarver and Mallory Wheeler each doubled.

Perrilloux, Rodgers, Temple, McCarver and Wheeler drove in two runs each, while Katlyn Bertelsen and Chelsey Richards each drove in a run.

Vidalia hosts Block Thursday. before playing in the Neville Tournament this weekend.

The Lady Vikings will face Franklin Parish, Cedar Creek and Bastrop in the tournament.
