Security system plan presented posted Wednesday, March 13th, 2013 @ 2:34 pm  E-mail Story |  Print Story  A security system for the Concordia Parish Courthouse would cost $71,743.05, according to a proposal prepared by Homeland Safety Systems of Shreveport. Police Jury President Melvin Ferrington said the proposal includes the installation of camera and access control systems. The Concordia Parish Courthouse Committee has been looking into the installation of a security system for courthouse safety during the past year. The system proposed by Mike Elliott with Homeland Safety Systems includes two video servers and seven cameras, including an infrared camera. Additionally, the system includes a central monitoring server as well as other equipment, including keyboards, microphones, monitors, intercom and a radio antenna. An access control panel for individual door control and a locking system are also part of the proposal. A metal detector, valued at $8,578, is not included in the proposal. Ferrington said the camera system is valued at $57,177.05 and the access control system at $14,566. "We're going to consider this through the courthouse committee," Ferrington said. "If we go this route we'll have to seek approval with the GOSEP (Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness)." Ferrington said the Jury has $72,000 available for the project through a grant provided by GOSEP.
