Vidalia hosting baseball tournament

Vidalia High's baseball will host a baseball tournament this weekend at the Recreation No. 3 Complex.

Vidalia faces Block Friday at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, Vidalia takes on Sicily Island at 10 a.m.

Bolton and Sicily Island follow at noon.

Block takes on Monterey at 2 p.m.. followed by Bolton against Monterey.

Vidalia and Cathedral meet at 6 p.m. in the final game of the tournament.

"We started hitting the ball at the end of the Peabody game," said Vidalia coach Kale Davis. "Hopefully we can continue hitting it. We've been getting good pitching."

Vidalia picked up two wins at the Harrisonburg Tournament this past weekend.

Vidalia defeated Avoyelles Charter 18-2 as William Handjis picked up the win, striking out 15 and allowing three hits.

Roper Craft and Cole Cangemi had four singles each. Josh Foucher and Kyle Coley had three singles, while Tyler Sandifer homered and singled.

Garrett Rhemes and Handjis had two hits each.

Vidalia defeated Richwood 17-2 in its second game.

Dylan Parnham struck out eight and allowed three hits for the win.

Craft and Sandifer had two hits each, while Foucher, Dakota Hunt and Coley also singled.
