Lady Vikings rout Marksville

Thursday, blanking the Lady Tigers 18-0.

Vidalia scored 18 runs in two innings as the District 3-3A game was called in the third inning by the 15-run mercy rule.

"I've been preaching to the girls that we need to take care of business in these types of games," said Vidalia coach Gary Paul Parnham. "And they came out and did what they had to do."

Lady Viking senior Laura Perilloux allowed only a single by Brianna Ford.

Perilloux struck out five, throwing 27 strikes and only 10 balls, getting a first-pitch strike on nine of the 11 batters she faced.

Vidalia scored five runs in the first inning and 13 in the second inning.

Katelin Temple singled thre se times.

Temple also helped Perilloux in the field, snagging a sharp line drive just to her left in the second inning, robbing a Lady Tiger of a base hit.

Taylor Rodgers, who is hitting .621 on the season, had two hits and a walk.

Cassie Gonzales singled and walked twice.

Perilloux helped her own cause with a triple.

Megan Naquin singled twice and had three RBI.

Vidalia hosts Buckeye in a key District 3-3A contest Thursday.

The Lady Panthers are the defending state champions and return eight starters, including Class 3A Player of the Year, pitcher, Mikayla Brown.

The Lady Vikings are 1-2 in district play, falling to Caldwell in their district opener.

Vidalia lost to Jena 11-0 Monday.

Temple had Vidalia's lone hit.

Emille Howarddoubled, singled and walked for Jena.

"We need to get some wins in district," Parnham said.

Vidalia will compete in the Jena Tournament this weekend before visiting Avoylles Monday.
