The Board of Elementary & Secondary Education (BESE) has approved the school's 2013 starting date.

"I'm really excited about this opportunity," Christman said. "I'm really looking forward to coming to Concordia Parish and working with the community."

Delta Charter School Board Member Craig Jackson said the school has two "outstanding" leaders.

"We got exactly what we were looking for," Jackson said. "We even put out national feelers, but I'm glad we got two guys from in the state who understand our culture. These two guys really want to make a difference in this area. They have outstanding credentials and are looking forward to being a part of something that will have a positive affect on this area."

Christman, 56, is a graduate if Delhi High School. He received a Master's degree in Education Administration from University of Louisiana at Monroe in December of 2001. He also attended Northwestern State where he earned Specialist in Education Administration.
