Moroney wins Malone Race by Joey Martin - posted Wednesday, November 14th, 2012 @ 2:59 pm A cool Saturday morning welcomed 170 runners for the Ellis Malone Foundation 5K race/walk Saturday on the Vidalia Riverfront.
Curtis Moroney won the event with a time of 19:09.67.
Allen Laird placed second at 21:11.73, while Kristen Foster was third at 23:12.73.
The next seven finishers Saturday were Clay Butler (23:18.72), Ashley Lloyd (23:20.38), Patrick Smith (23:31.23), Beth Pilgrim (24:37.86), Casey Young (24:41.48), Brandy Lewis (24:54.69) and Brett Hinson (25:06.35).
Ellis Laine Malone, the daughter of Matt and Heather Malone of Vidalia, was born on April 4, 2012 at which time her family found out she had Apert Syndrome.
This particular syndrome affects Ellis' bone growth and development particularly in her skull, hands and feet.
Throughout her development, Ellis will have to undergo several reconstructive craniofacial surgeries to allow for brain development and growth of the facial structure.
She will also have reconstructive surgery of the hands and feet to separate the fingers and toes, all of which are currently webbed.
Ellis is expected to have her first reconstructive surgery at nine months old and they will continue until approximately 18 years of age.
