Vidalia, Ferriday winless in tournament by Joey Martin - posted Wednesday, December 5th, 2012 @ 2:25 pm Vidalia High boys and girls went winless in the Tensas Parish Tournament as both teams are still seeking their first wins of the season.
Vidalia's boys came close, but fell to Franklin Parish 40-38 in their final game Saturday.
Vidalia led 22-17 at halftime, but the Patriots outscored the Vikings14-10 in the third period and 9-6 in the final period.
Deon Brown led Vidalia with 10 points, while Isiah Thompson and Julius Wilson added seven.
The Lady Vikings fell to Franklin Parish 60-30.
Alandra Holt led Vidalia with nine points, while Fran Duson added eight.
Vidalia's boys fell to Madison Parish 42-38 as Thompson fouled out in the contest after scoring seven points.
Brown led Vidalia with 10 points.
The Lady Vikings lost to Sicily Island 30-27 as six Vidalia players fouled out.
Ferriday boys and girls both went winless at Tensas.
The Lady Trojans fell to Madison 48-42 as Sha'Keria Kelly netted 18 and Jada Griggs added 16.
"We missed some layups at the end, but I thought the girls really played well," said Lady Trojan coach Lisa Abron.
The Lady Trojans fell to Tensas Parish 81-44. Griggs netted 19, while Kelly added 14.
Helena Hill led Tensas with 28 points. Mary Jones added 16 and Cheyenne South netted 16.
Ferriday's boys fell to Sicily Island and Mangham at Tensas.
Ferriday hosts Vidalia Friday in hoops action beginning at 5 p.m. with a junior varsity boys game followed by varsity games contest and varsity boys in the finale at the Ferriday gym.
