Police Jury adopts $6.6 million budget posted Wednesday, December 12th, 2012 @ 2:11 pm The Concordia Parish Police Jury adopted a $6.6 million budget Monday night for fiscal year 2012.
General fund income is expected to total $1.84 million with expenditures amounting to $2.21 million. With a beginning balance of $1.71 million, the general fund balance at the end of 2013 will have a projected balance of $1.48 million.
"Our budget for 2013 is about the same as 2012," according to Jury President Melvin Ferrington. "We're going to stay within our budget."
The total budget, including both the general fund and special revenue funds, will operate with a projected deficit of $13,384 for the year. But with a beginning fund balance of $6.37 million the Jury expects to end 2013 with an anticipated ending balance of $6.35 million.
The budget reflects an increase for health insurance for employees for 2013 in the general fund.
In the Highway Maintenance Fund, Jury secretary-treasurer Hazel Dickson estimated that the Jury will receive $220,000 from the Louisiana Department of Transportation. Spending in the fund will outpace receipts by $36,462, she noted, pointing out that additional funding will come through savings.
In the Drainage Maintenance Fund, $870,000 in revenue will come from ad valorem taxes and $87,000 from a Louisiana Government Assistance Program grant. Purchases totaling $127,000 are anticipated for equipment. Spending will exceed receipts by $135,773.
Solid waste disposal will cost the parish $465,000.
