After capturing their own tournament, Monterey High boys and girls basketball teams came up one game short at the Harrisonburg Tournament on Saturday.
Monterey's boys fell to Sicily Island in the finals, 62-53, squandering a seven-point lead after three quarters.
"We got close to winning another one, but we just didn't finish against Sicily Island, who played well in the fourth quarter," said Monterey coach Eric Richard. "But I thought our kids played well and we've been very consistent. We've always had the effort, but now we are getting the execution and the guys are doing what I have been trying to get them to do."
Monterey's boys led 14-9 after one quarter of play and 40-33 after three quarters.
Dillon Smith paced the Wolves with 16 points, while Hayden Cassels added 13.

Block led 17-9 at halftime.
Monterey was led by Jody Duncan with eight points, while Kristin Russell and Reagan Tiffee added seven points each.
