Ferriday teams sweep by Joey Martin - posted Thursday, January 24th, 2013 @ 9:50 am Ferriday Lady Trojan head coach Lisa Abron has seen her team lose a number of leads this past season.
But the Lady Trojans turned the table Friday night in Sibley, as Ferriday rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit to defeat Lakeside 66-60.
"That was a good change for us," said Ferriday girls coach Lisa Abron. "I was very pleased with the way we came back. I think the girls are realizing they can compete with good teams if they play together. Our defense has really stepped up and hopefully we can continue winning and get into the playoffs."
Lakeside led 20-15 after one period of play and 39-28 at half-time.
The Lady Trojans outscored the Lady Warriors 17-7 in the third quarter and 21-14 in the final period to pull out the win.
Jada Griggs led the Lady Trojans with 29 points, while Sha'Keris Kelly added 12 and Jaz Davis 10.
Ferriday's boys made it a sweep with a 49-39 win over Lakeside.
"We should have played better, but it's still good to get a win on the road," said Ferriday coach K.G. Watkins.
Ferriday outscored Lakeside 11-5 in the final period to secure the win.
Brandon Scott led Ferriday with 23 points, while DaJohn Mitchell added 10.
Ferriday plays at Sterlington Friday as part of five straight away games. The Trojans return home Feb. 5 against Lakeside.
The Trojans host Homer Feb. 11 in a make-up game postponed by weather.
