Delta Museum opening five days a week

It broke Delta Music Museum director Judith Bingham's heart to drive into downtown Ferriday on Monday or Tuesday and see a tour bus drive by the museum, unable to tour the facility because the doors were locked.

"And I had people from Jeffery's Flowers tell me people would go to the door and look in, unable to go in," Bingham said.

But thanks to the efforts of the Friends of the Delta Music Museum Foundation Inc., the doors will open back up on Mondays and Tuesdays, which means the museum's new hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

"I am very excited about this," Bingham said. "The Friends of the Museum put together a membership drive and we had a great response so we decided to go ahead and open five days."

State budget cuts forced the museum to close on Monday and Tuesdays last year.

"I hope we can continue to stay open five days," Bingham said. "The people here understand how important it is to Ferriday."
