FAFSA night at Ferriday High

Representatives of the Louisiana Education Loan Authority will be at Ferriday High School tonight to help high school seniors and their parents confront an issue very much on their minds -- paying for college, according to Catherine Heitman.

FAFSA Night (FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is slated for 5-7 p.m., Feb. 20.

Louisiana Education Loan Authority (LELA) offers free information and workshops to high schools upon request and online. It also provides scholarships to Louisiana high school seniors, according to Heitman.

LELA recommends parents prepare tax forms early and complete the FAFSA at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA is used to determine if students qualify for grants or loans.

LELA is a division of the Louisiana Public Facilities Authority (LPFA) and develops projects and programs to make higher education more accessible to Louisiana students.
